DOZENS of Olympic and Paralympic Games banners are to be attached to lampposts on the borough's main roads.
The two metre by 80cm sheets will be installed in groups of six across Chingford, Highams Park, Leyton, Leytonstone and Walthamstow.
Councillors will make a decision on planning permission at a meeting on Wednesday (May 16), but officers have received no objections and are recommending that the proposals be approved.
The timing of the application is in contrast to neighbouring borough Redbridge, where the council there announced its plans for branding and banners in November 2011.
The Waltham Forest Council report states: "The size, design and location of the signage are reasonable and would not have a detrimental impact on the character or visual amenity of the area, public safety, or residential amenity of occupiers in the vicinity."
The report does not say how much the banners will cost or when exactly they will be put up.
But it says they will not be taken down until November.
