A MOTHER who left her car in a bay outside her home was left nonplussed when she was fined for parking "dangerously".

Chloe Pollard, of Chaucer Road, Wanstead is struggling to understand why she received the £110 penalty last Tuesday (May 15), despite claiming she displayed her resident's permit.

A picture taken by the 45-year-old at the time clearly shows her VW Touran park safely close to a slightly dropped kerb in an allocated space.

But the Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) stated that the car was parked in a "dangerous position".

She said: "When I first saw the fine I thought it was a joke. My neighbours also think it is a joke. "I always park in the same spot and have never had a problem in the past

"Traffic wardens are public servants but slapping on wrongful parking penalties does nobody a service. It just causes problems all round.

Mrs Pollard has fallen foul of a temporary scheme introduced in Chaucer Road and surrounding streets after complaints of commuters clogging up residential streets.

This scheme is now under review after businesses complained that the restrictions were hitting business.

"I feel sorry for commuters. I do not feel there is enough parking for them. Streets are now empty and it is a great shame for local businesses.

"I voted against the parking permits and now this has happened to me," Mrs Pollard said.

Despite the claim on the PCN a spokeswoman for Redbridge Council said the ticket was issued because a valid permit was not displayed.

The Guardian has asked for more clarification.
