LOUGHTON Folk Day provides non-stop live music all day this Saturday (May 19) between 4pm and 10.30pm.
Held at the Loughton Club in Station Road, and hosted by Loughton Folk Club, this event is free to get in but donations will be encouraged in aid of charity Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Acts playing include Black Scarr, Ross Scrivener, Alan Francis, Maureen Shields, John Clarke and Simon Oliver.
There's also special appearances by Blackhorse and Standard Morris.
Before that, on Thursday (May 17) the club hosts its usual weekly show at 8pm, which is this week headlined by Harry Bird and the Rubber Wellies. Entry is £3.
Mr Sleaz and The Pictures are two of the rock acts performing at The Artisan Music Venue in Hall Lane, Chingford, on Saturday (May 19).
Entry is £6, or a fiver with a band flyer. It starts at 8pm.
A quartet of talented musicians led by saxophone player Pete Wareham play the East Side Jazz Club in Leytonstone next Tuesday (May 22).
The line-up includes Ben Hazelton on bass, along with Tom Skinner and Clive Fenner sharing drum duties.
The show, at the Lord Rookwood pub, starts at 8.30pm and costs £5.
Walthamstow Folk Club is hosting an evening “for serious craic addicts” (geddit?!) on Sunday (May 20) with a double-bill of performances by Irish singers Thomas McCarthy and Racker Donnelly.
It’s at Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre Pub in Hoe Street and starts at 7.30pm. Admission is £6, with a discount for concessions.
The Battered Saucepan Blues Band play a free show at the venue the next day (Monday May 21).
It gets going around 8.30pm in the main bar.
Anna MacDonald headlines the Lost Horizons Folk and Acoustic Club night at the Birkbeck Tavern in Leytonstone on Friday (May 18).
Support comes from Russ Chandler and four singer-songwriters including James O’Hara-Knight and Bob Munton.
Tickets are £3 on the doors, which open at 7pm for an 8pm start.
