THOSE wanting to be part of the noisy and colourful procession of the Ongar Carnival have been invited to get in touch with organisers.
The carnival will start on Sunday, June 24, at 12.30pm in St Peter’s Avenue, with bands, floats and community groups making their way down the High Street to the grounds of Chipping Ongar Primary School in Greensted Road, where there will a range of stalls and a beer and Pimms tent.
This year’s award for the best dressed establishment will go to the shop, pub or, business with the most impressive Olympic themed decorations.
There will also be awards for the carnival queen and princesses.
Dan Cable, chairman of the Ongar Round Table, who are organising the carnival, said: “We’re getting as many local organisations as possible including bands, clubs and youth groups to join in and have fun - and of course we’ll be hoping for some great British Summer weather to bring out the crowds!”
