A GRAPHIC designer will have his portrait of the Queen displayed at a busy London Underground station after it was chosen for a Diamond Jubilee exhibition.
Jason Walton, 41, of Colebrook Lane, Debden, will see his design, entitled QEII, featured in the Art Below London exhibition at a gallery in Charing Cross, central London.
He has also sent a copy to Buckingham Palace as a present to Her Majesty.
“A few months ago, I saw a gallery was looking on the internet for new art,” he said. “I entered my Queen illustration and to my delight and surprise, it was selected.”
He will be one of 100 artists showing their work in the exhibition, which runs from May 28 until June 6, and a poster of his design will also be displayed at Bethnal Green Tube station.
“It’s exciting, because it’s the first time I’ve had this one in a public exhibition,” he said. “At the moment, I’m working for a company that does work for Shell, so I’m doing a lot of corporate branding.
“I love the job, but I like doing art as well and it’s something different.”
