LOUGHTON’S new mayor has been elected.
Stephen Pewsey will take over from outgoing mayor and fellow St John’s ward councillor, Caroline Pond, after his election at a meeting of the Town Council on Wednesday (May 16).
Cllr Pewsey, 56, has lived in Loughton for 18 years and works at the British Museum.
He said: “2012 is a particularly exciting year, as we celebrate both the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic Games with a wide range of events across the town.
“I am proud of the community spirit in Loughton and look forward to helping to make a difference during my term of office.”
Cllr Jill Angold-Stephens will serve as Cllr Pewsey’s deputy.
