A GOOD Samaritan leapt from their car to chase off a gang of seven youths who were beating up a schoolboy.
Police are appealing for the person to come forward and help with their investigation into the attack which happened on May 11 at around 3.50pm.
The 13-year-old victim got off a bus in Penlow Way and walked along Loughton Way in the direction of Buckhurst Hill when he was set upon by the gang.
He sustained bruising to his face during the assault which only stopped when a motorist in a small red car pulled up and chased off the louts.
Police said they were unable to provide information on whether the motorist was male or female, but would not confirm why this was the case.
Anyone with information on the incident, should contact Pc Daniel Pipes or Ds Phil Moulsher at the West Area Investigation Team on 101 ext 319132.
