JUBILEE fever arrived early as staff and visitors at a pensioners' day centre staged a fundraising party with a royal theme.
The sounds of patriotic singing echoed around the Elderberries Day Centre in Broadmead Road, Woodford Green, and Union Jacks were waved as everyone toasted The Queen on Friday (May 18).
The day was organised to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, with stalls selling jewellery and bric-a-brac open for business.
People also donated money for the honour of signing two giant cards which will be sent to The Queen to congratulate her on her Diamond Jubilee.
Organiser Neelam Pahl said: “We held the party early so we could make sure the cards reach The Queen in time.
“Everyone was so generous, we’ve raised more than £400 so far, but the money is still coming in.
“It was lovely to sing some of the old songs and we finished off with a very rousing chorus of the national anthem.”
