A WOMAN who arranged for her daughter's boyfriend to be beaten to death after took topless pictures of her has been found guilty of manslaughter.
Gedu Bibi, 47, persuaded 21-year-old hospital worker Sumon Miah visit to her home after seeing the pictures of her 13-year-old daughter, Shuhina Khanam, on his phone.
She asked 48-year-old Lilu Miah to attack Sumon at her home in Priory Court, Walthamstow, in October 2006, the Old Bailey heard.
But Lilu, the former owner of the Sunshine Cafe in High Road, South Woodford, who is not related to the victim, was acquitted of murder and manslaughter after being accused of beating Sumon to death with a table leg.
Both he and Bibi were found guilty of perverting the course of justice.
The pair tried to persuade the teenage girl to tell police she had hit Sumon in self-defence after he came at her with a knife.
Sumon suffered head injuries during the attack and died nine days later.
Bibi and Lilu, who both pleaded not guilty, will be sentenced at a later date.
Lilu's nephew, Dobir Miah, of Roslyn Street, Highfield, Leicester, is charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice and his trial is ongoing.
Investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Wall said: "This case has taken more than five years to come to court owing to the efforts of those involved who sought to deny Sumon and his family justice.
"Today they have not succeeded and our thoughts are with Sumon's family."
