The Chairwoman of the Council’s Diamond Jubilee Panel has quit due to what she described as a lack of support.
Ruth Clark walked out of a meeting of the panel this morning (May 22).
While she thanked Council Leader Keith Prince for his support, she hit out at other cabinet members and council officers who she refused to name.
She said: “Uncooperative attitudes prevail at this time throughout the council.
“The Jubilee Panel and myself have not been treated the same way as the Olympic Panel.
“There are people who did not want this committee.
“Whether that is to do with money or because they think it is a waste of officer time I don’t know.
“But I am not used to this sort of treatment and I feel I cannot continue.”
Cllr Clark said letters sent to Area Committees requesting Jubilee funds were not shown to her and that meetings were rescheduled for dates which she did not approve.
She also claimed a consultation with residents over the contents of a Jubilee time capsule was not carried out.
The panel was set up in January.
