THE “incendiary” clawhammer banjo player Hunter Robertson is set to make an impact this week with his gig at Walthamstow Folk Club on Sunday (May 27).
The acclaimed Mr Robertson plays old-timey songs specialising in the Deep South of the USA, and got a great reception last time he came to the club.
The show, at Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre Pub in Hoe Street, costs £6, or £5 for concessions.
Doors open at 7.30pm.
Trumpet and flugel player Quentin Collins plays the East Side Jazz Club in Leytonstone on Tuesday (May 29).
Backing him up is the talented John Turville on piano, Mark Lewandowski on bass and Clive Fenner on drums.
Admission to the club, at the Lord Rookwood pub, is £5 and the tunes begin from 8.30pm.
Steve Rushton hosts a blues jam night at Walthamstow Cricket Club on Monday (May 28).
The venue is in Greenway Avenue and doors open around 8.30pm.
Then on Wednesday (May 30) the cricket club hosts the Ryan Williams Flashmob, courtesy of the E17 Jazz collective.
This quartet blend contemporary jazz with hints of country and psychedelia.
Entry is a fiver and doors swing open at 8.30pm.
The eclectic and smooth Phil Drane is the guest of Loughton Folk Club this Thursday (May 24).
Tickets are £5 on the doors, which are from 8pm.
It's at the Loughton Club building in Station Road.
Folky blues singer-songwriter Thad Beckman performs at the Birkbeck Tavern in Leytonstone next Wednesday (May 30).
It starts at 8.30pm and entry is free, although donations welcome.
Shake 101 headline the Artisan Music Venue in Chingford's Hall Lane on Saturday night (May 26).
Mod DJ Tony Parsons provides support. It costs £5 with a band flyer, or £6 without, and gets going at about 8.30pm.
