A MAN has been cleared of murdering his wife in an arson attack - but two other men remain on trial.
Mohammed Arshad, 42, had been accused of killing mum-of-five Fiza Asif, 28, at their home in Palmerston Road, Walthamstow, on January 4 last year.
It was alleged he conspired with his brother Abdul Jabbar, 54, when she threatened to have her illegal immigrant brother-in-law deported.
Jurors at the Old Bailey heard the duo had initially considered hiring a hit man but then decided to set fire to the family home when everyone else was out.
But a judge has now directed the jury to find Mr Arshad not guilty.
Mr Jabbar remains on trial along with his 19-year-old son, Ibrahim Farooq, who is accused of perverting the course of justice.
The men, who both live in Palmerston Road, deny the charges.
