CONSERVATIVE councillor Ed Northover has resigned.
The member for Larkswood informed council chief executive Martin Esom of his decision by email today following discussion this week.
The corporate solicitor has moved to Hong Kong after his firm recently relocated there.
The news comes after the planning committee member recently complained of a "certain inevitability" to the outcome of certain planning applications.
He voted against the controversial development of Walthamstow Stadium and its car park, which was voted through by the majority Labour members.
A date for a by-election is yet to be set.
Mr Northover has not been available to comment but Tory group leader Matt Davis said his former colleague would be missed.
"We're very sorry to lose Ed Northover , he has been an excellent councillor and a very good representative of his consituents. However we understand that people do sometimes have to put their worklife first."
