TWO homeless families moved onto Chingford Green after they were evicted for squatting in a Leytonstone house.
The group set up camp on grassland by Mornington Hall earlier this week.
According to information from Waltham Forest Police, posted online by Chingford councillor Thom Goddard, the families were removed by officers from a house in Leytonstone on Monday (May 21).
They had been squatting there since January.
Authorities say the group do not qualify for housing assistance and do not have the right to remain in the UK.
Police said the "only option" for the group is to go their national embassy and arrange travel back to their home country, although they have reportedly refused to do this.
The council said it would put the families in temporary accommodation this weekend while their case was dealt with.
