FAMILIES were awestruck by the might of military vehicles at a display last weekend.
Taking advantage of the warm weather, visitors to the Royal gunpowder Mills in Beaulieu Drive in Waltham Abbey enjoyed an open air parade of vehicles belonging to enthusiasts ranging from tanks to desert jeeps on Saturday, May 26.
There was also an opportunity to experience the power of the vehicles at close range and hitch a ride round the mill grounds.
Volunteers manager Liz Want said: “People who went on the tanks stepped off them and talked about how exhilarated they felt by the strength of them.
“They were awestruck by the size and scale of the machines, and many of them make a terrifying noise.
“It is very clear what their purpose is and that they are designed for war in a range of environments.
“The weather was stunning as well, and it was lovely to see all of the families out there enjoying themselves.”
