A MAN has been charged in connection with a stabbing in Chingford at the weekend.

Zbyslaw Dobosz, 28, is accused of knifing a 26-year-old man outside a taxi office in Hall Lane at around 2.20am on Saturday (May 26).

The victim has since been released from hospital and is expected to recover.

Detectives believe he was waiting for a taxi cab when the incident happened.

Police have confirmed another man has also been charged over a second incident which happened moments later in Chingford Mount road.

A Met spokeswoman confirmed that the force was treating the two as linked.

A witness told the Guardian he saw a man wearing a balaclava being chased along the street by a group of about six people from the direction of Hall Lane.

The man reportedly tripped on a bin, fell to the floor and was then kicked repeatedly before police arrived.

The Met says the victim suffered a fracture to his skull.

Tyrone Johnson, 24, of Marten Road in Walthamstow, has been charged with affray in connection with that incident but is not suspected of involvement in the stabbing.

A second man, Kai Reynolds, 18, of Leonard Road in Chingford, was also arrested and has been charged with possession of cannabis.

The junction of Hall Lane and Chingford Mount, a popular shopping district, was closed for much of Saturday morning as police investigated the incident.

A 51-year-old witness, who was standing by the King's Ford pub opposite the scene of the second attack, told the Guardian: "The men ran up to him and started kicking him while he was lying on the ground.

"It looked like they kicked him unconscious but they kept going.

"It was quite a distressing scene, they looked like they were doing some serious damage."

When the first lot of police arrived at the scene they chased the group, reportedly leaving the injured man lying on the pavement.

Another man, thought to be a friend of the victim, then pulled his body into an alleyway but police located him moments later.

Doboz, who lives in Chingford Mount road, is also charged with possession of cannabis.

All three men are due to appear at Thames Magistrates Court on Wednesday June 13.
