POLICE discovered a cannabis factory following a tip-off from residents.
Officers found 35 of the illegal plants growing in two rooms of a flat in Francis Road, Leyton, during a raid at 9.30am this morning (Thursday May 31).
No-one was inside at the time and no arrests have been made.
The operation was carried out by police from Grove Green Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) along with the borough's Neighbourhood Tasking Team.
PC Ian McGill, of the Tasking Team, said: "Cannabis factories pose a considerable hazard due to the abstraction of electricity and use of flammable liquids.
"Thanks to the information from the community, we have been able to disrupt this supply of drugs that can fuel anti-social behaviour and fund other criminal activity.
"We want to ensure this community is safe so if you have information about crime in your area then contact us [on non-emergency number 101]. We will take action."
