The 21-year-old was seized in Stratford yesterday (Thursday May 31) in connection with the death of 36-year-old O'Neil Irwin.
But police said today he had now been released and been asked to return to officers in mid-July.
Mr Irwin died after being knifed in Upper Walthamstow in broad daylight on May 21.
He flagged down a passing police patrol car in Ulverston Road but paramedics were unable to save him.
Police previously arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the incident.
He is also on police bail until July.
A post mortem concluded that Mr Irwin, who lived at various addresses in Walthamstow, died of a single stab wound to the heart.
A man was reportedly seen cycling away from the scene after the attack.
