A FLOOD alert has been issued for the River Roding.
The Environment Agency put the alert in place for areas including Redbridge, Woodford, Wanstead and Ilford last night (July 8).
A statement on the Environment Agency website says: "Heavy showers could cause river levels to rise quickly and come out of banks in places causing flooding to low lying land and roads.
"Drainage could be exceeded and surface water flooding is possible.
"We are not expecting any flooding to properties at this time but we will monitor the situation closely and escalate to Flood Warnings if necessary."
