PUPILS burdened with the stress of schoolwork have taken up mixed martial arts (MMA) as a way of relaxing.
And the dozen children aged from 11 to 15 at Chingford Foundation School have just received their certificates after six weeks of training with local club Fuzion Martial Arts.
Sharon Goldstone, a personalised learning co-ordinator at the school in Nevin Drive, said the training has helped the kids to deal with the stress and anxiety of the classroom.
She added: “This is helping students to focus and increases their level of concentration. "These sessions are teaching them how to reduce their anxiety, hyperactivity and ... remain calm in stressful situations.”
