MUSLIMS fasting for Ramadan are being urged to seek medical advice if they suffer from chronic illness or are pregnant.
Doctors are also recommending that those taking medication contact their GPs before Ramadan begins on July 20.
The NHS said those with medical conditions who fast often experience problems such as dehydration and dizziness.
Walthamstow GP, Dr Gabby Ivbijaro, said: "We want people to observe Ramadan in a healthy way. If you start to feel unwell during fasting, please seek advice as soon as possible."
A booklet called 'Keeping Healthy in Ramadan' has been distributed to all major mosques and hospitals.
