A GROUP of councillors have been praised for engaging the community.
The council's End of Life Scrutiny Working Group has received an award from the Centre for Public Scrutiny, a charity monitoring public services.
Councillors were particularly praised for an event where members of the public were invited to discuss care for the terminally ill with local groups and charities.
Group member Cllr Cleaver said: "We felt that more could be done to help people in the final stages of their life and being given the choice to make a final care plan is one way which can help.
"All members had previous experience of end of life care, so this was a very personal experience."
