EPPING High Street is set to burst into life this Saturday with the arrival of the town's festival.
Running from 10am until late in the evening, the day will be packed with activities such as art exhibitions, live music performances, portrait drawings and a fashion show.
Held in conjunction with the Epping Society's 40th anniversary, the festival will also see St John's Church Tower opened to the public for a day, giving people a stunning view of the town and countryside.
Visitors will be able to stroll along the High Street exploring events, as well as tasting a wide range of food.
Church's Butchers will hold a barbecue featuring 'Epping's Famous Sausages', while a Street Feast can be found at The Raj and a Mediterranean barbecue sampled at The Clocktower.
Meanwhile, at the St. George & Dragon a Caribbean theme will have customers dining to the sound of a steel pan band.
Rekha Patel, owner of Clocktower restaurant on Station Road, is highly optimistic about the event.
"There's so much said about towns dying out these days, but we're showing everyone that actually that's not the case", she said. "We want people to realise what's here and to keep using it".
Rather than being an expensive affair, the festival is a neighbourly collaboration between the numerous independent businesses, artists and residents of the community.
"We've done this on virtually no budget", said Ms Patel. "All these people came together to show off their talents, and they've done it all on their own time."
