CHILDREN at a Waltham Abbey infant school were in fine voice as their musical achievements were recognised by a national charity.
Pupils and staff at Leverton Infant and Nursery School staged a day of celebrations on Thursday (July 12) as they were made a 'beacon school' by the Voices Foundation.
The school is one of only a handful nationwide to receive the title, which recognises teachers' success at promoting singing in every aspect of the curriculum.
Youngsters marked the occasion with a musical assembly to show off their vocal skills.
Headteacher Isobel Barron said: "It was absolutely fantastic. We had a wonderful day and we are really proud.
"The children absolutely love it. They sing all the time. They sing in the playground, they sing in the corridors. It gives a real lift and it makes them smile."
