A GROUP of budding actors from Wanstead High School took to the stage of a Covent Garden theatre last week.
The year nine students, from the school in Redbridge Lane West, Wasntead, performed at the Donmar theatre on July 10 for the pinnacle of an exciting project.
The students were asked to consider their answers to the ethical questions raised by the theatres current production 'The Physicists' and perform their responses through drama.
The project aimed to use drama and performance as a way of encouraging young people to debate issues affecting the world today, including the Cold War, nuclear power and climate change.
Mark Whitehead, head of Drama at Wanstead High, said: "It is very exciting to see students of Wanstead High School performing on a stage that has seen famous actors such as Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, James McAvoy, Rachel Weisz and Chewitel Ejiofor tread the boards there.
"We are really very grateful that our students were given such a wonderful opportunity.
"The students were exceptionally engaged and responsive throughout this whole process and we felt a very justifiable sense of pride at their achievements.”
