AN OLYMPIC gold medallist packed a punch when he dropped in on schoolchildren in Buckhurst Hill.
Boxer James DeGale – who triumphed at the 2008 Beijing Games – paid a visit to St John’s C of E Primary School on Monday (July 16).
He showed pupils his gold medal, spoke about his achievements and admired the youngsters’ own sport trophies.
Headteacher Peter Tidmarsh said: “To have one of the only 19 gold medals won in 2008 at our school was special.
“The children were very inspired by James’ ‘can do' culture and I look forward to welcoming back our old pupils when they win their gold medals.”
