A PENSIONER who moved into a retirement complex on the day it opened celebrated its 25th anniversary with a bunch of flowers.
Nettie Summers, 87, was the first person through the doors of Ullswater Court in Glebelands Avenue, South Woodford in July 1987 - and she still lives there.
She joined other residents to celebrate the anniversary with a party and afternoon tea last last week (July 13).
Nettie, who hails from South Woodford, said: “I used to walk past when it was being built, never realising that I’d eventually move in.
“It’s is a lovely place to live and I’ve made some great friends here.
“We have a brilliant social scene and the development is just around the corner from the high street, which means there’s always something to do.”
Keith Edgar, Managing Director for Peverel Retirement, which runs Ullswater Court said: “It’s fantastic to see that Nettie still enjoys the development, which is a great testament to retirement living.
Here’s to another 25 years!”
