A PARK will benefit from an £11,000 refurbishment paid for by money given to the council by Transport for London (TfL).
Salway Gardens in Woodford Green was used by TfL to store equipment for six months while repairs were made to nearby embankment on the Central Line.
Families living nearby started a petition over fears that the park would be damaged but the work went ahead anyway.
TfL finished their repairs earlier this year and now the park will get a makeover thanks to money paid to Redbridge council as compensation.
As well as new plants and trees, pathways will be laid with fresh tarmac and benches will be renovated.
Liberal Democrat councillor for Church End ward Nicola Sinclair lobbied for the money to be spent on Salway Gardens.
She said: “Local residents had to cope with the construction.
“It is right that Salway Gardens gets some benefit now from the thousands
of pounds the council got paid by TfL.”
