A SUMMER fair which had to be rescheduled because of torrential rain was blessed with sunshine at the weekend.
More than 1,000 people came out to enjoy the warm weather in the grounds of Haven House Children’s Hospice in Woodford Green, raising an incredible £13,000 in the process.
Miss Commonwealth Hayley Mac joined Haven House mascot Henry the Hound and a group of Pearly kings and queens strolling around the fair.
And children enjoyed petting miniature horses, meeting fire fighters from Chingford fire station and listening to stories.
There was also a giant game of jenga, apple bobbing and plenty of stalls selling vintage clothing and jewellery to raise funds for the hospice.
The fair was originally schedule for May 20 but had to be cancelled because the ground was waterlogged.
Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of the hospice said: “It was wonderful to see so many members of the community out enjoying the Fayre and supporting their local children’s hospice.
“The much needed funds raised enable us to care for life limited local children and their families at Haven House.”
