PARENTS of children at a Wanstead primary school have been reassured their children’s education is in safe hands despite the fact that 10 teachers have decided to leave.
In a statement issued via Redbridge Council, headteacher Misbah Mann, said: “It is not unusual in the teaching profession for some teachers to move on or to take career breaks.
“All of these teachers have been replaced and have met with parents ready to start at the school in September.
“I would like to reassure parents that this will in no way affect the continuity or level of education provided at the school which is of a very high standard and will continue to remain so."
Parents are also absorbing the news that a popular after school club at Aldersbrook has closed.
The club, which was run by Redbridge Council, shut after concerns were raised by environmental health inspectors and OFSTED.
It is understood an unsuccessful campaign to save it was mounted by parents.
In a statement on the school's website, the school’s chair of governors, Tracey Adebowale-Jones, said the room previously used to house the club would be converted to provide facilities for the clubs Early Years Foundation Scheme (EYFS).
She added: “In order to comply with our own OFSTED recommendations and to continue to improve the school to achieve a good to outstanding grade, this was deemed a priority.”
A spokeswoman for Redbridge Council said there was alternative out of school provision in the area which parents had been made aware of.
And she added: “The council knows how important such provision is for both parents and pupils and has done its utmost to ensure every possible avenue has been explored to cater for the young children in this area.”
