A MOTORIST was punched and had his car windows smashed by a gang in an apparently random attack.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault, which happened at around 12.30am on Saturday (July 21) in Lea Bridge Road at the Bakers Arms junction in Leyton.
The man was with his brother and a friend outside Jesters Amusement Park when a car pulled up and a group of five or six men jumped out.
They chased the trio and caught the 27-year-old victim.
They reportedly punched and kicked the man repeatedly and then smashed the windows of the victim's black Mercedes 350 car.
The group then ran off back to their own vehicle and sped off in an unknown direction.
The man was taken to hospital with head injuries but was later discharged after having stitches.
Officers say there is no apparent motive.
Detectives say the Jesters Amusement Arcade had nothing to do with the attack.
The victim has been unable to provide a description of the attackers or their car.
Witnesses or anyone with information is urged to call Detective Constable Mark Wright on 0203 276 0971.
Alternatively, to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
