MORE than 100 volunteers from seven churches are gearing up to make this Saturday’s Love Loughton fun day a success.
The day will kick off at 11.45am with a grand procession from Traps Hill to St Mary’s Church, before an official opening by the High Sheriff of Essex Christopher Palmer-Tomkinson at noon.
Two outside stages will keep visitors entertained throughout the afternoon, with a power lifting display, Ethiopian choir, Zumba dancers, Loughton Youth Theatre and local and regional bands among the acts.
St Mary’s Church will host zorbing, a bouncy castle, cream teas and games – along with a free family show from the Saltmine Theatre Company at 3pm.
Activities on Station Road will include horse and carriage rides, a bungee run and crazy golf, while the High Road will offer food stalls, children’s arts and crafts, a giant torch relay competition, instrument making, a wine matching workshop and makeovers.
Luke Lowrie, children’s pastor at St Mary’s Church, said: “It is incredible the interest that the event has attracted this year and we now hope the weather will be good and the crowds will turn out to get involved in what will be a great day for Loughton.”
