THIEVES have stolen a transit van containing thousands of pounds worth of music equipment belonging to band Noah and the Whale.

The van and the equipment was stolen on Monday (July 23) between 8pm and 12.30am from Cross Road, Woodford Green.

The band had just returned from touring Norway, and the driver of the hired van had stopped to have a rest in Woodford Green, during which the van was stolen.

Equipment stolen included four Fender and five Gibson guitars, two macbook pros, various amplifiers, keyboard stands and numerous tambourines.

All of the equipment cases have Noah and the Whale white tour labels stuck to them and most cases are marked 'NOAH' in six-inch high lettering.

Others also have gold marker pen lettering saying 'NOAH AND THE WHALE' or 'NATW'.

The registration of the white Ford Transit van is NJ12 RNX.

Noah and the Whale are a five-piece indie band hailing from Twickenham in London.

This isn't the first time the band have had music equipment stolen.

In September 2009, music equipment was stolen from a trailer while the band played a gig at Manchester's Club Academy.

Two men were later convicted of handling the stolen goods and were both sentenced to 180 hours community service.

Anyone with information on the location of the van or have been offered any of the equipment for sale should call DS Chris Singleton at Ilford CID on 0208 345 2751.
