SHOPPERS at Sainsbury's helped raise hundreds of pounds for a hockey club by buying environmentally-friendly bags.

Staff at the store in Hall Lane, Chingford, presented Waltham Forest Hockey Club with a cheque for £500 after the Forest Flyerz were having trouble paying for their new hockey kits.

The company managed to raise the money through its community grant scheme, which is funded by sales of its long-lasting bags.

Store manager Jason Roberts said: "It is important that we can do as much as we can to support our community. When we heard about Waltham Forest Hockey Club we were really pleased to be able to help out."
