A YOUNG man was shot in the hand on the edge of Wanstead Flats.
Police were called to the scene of the shooting in Sidney Road, Wanstead, at 11.20am on Saturday after receiving a call from the London Ambulance Service.
A 22-year-old man was treated for a gunshot wound to the hand and was taken to an east London hospital.
A police spokesman said: "His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening."
The weapon used in the shooting has not been found.
Detectives from investigation team Trident are investigating the incident, but so far no arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
Anyone who witnessed the incident should call police on 101.
