TEMPORARY police cells used since November 2000 are to close.
The custody suite at Chingford police station, in King's Head Hill, was only a temporary addition to the building and will no longer be used from October 22.
The cells are currently being dismantled.
A police spokesman said: "There should be no disruption to front counter services and we would like to apologise for any disruption during the removal."
The 10 cells were used while a new custody suite was built in Hainault Road, Leyton, which opened in 2010, to solve the problem of a shortage of cell space in Waltham Forest.
