TIME could be finally running out for a woman whose neighbours have suffered 20 years of abuse and anti-social behaviour.
People living at Chartwell Court in Broomhill Walk, Woodford Green, are demanding her eviction, claiming she is loud, dangerous and invites a stream of drunk and threatening visitors to her flat.
A petition signed by 37 of them has won the support of Woodford Green MP Iain Duncan Smith who was handed a dossier of photos and videos showing excrement smeared on doors, people sleeping in corridors, and aggressive behaviour from men visiting the woman.
The MP told the Home Group Housing Association, which manages the property, that it had enough evidence to begin eviction proceedings, adding: “She is living a destructive lifestyle, but she is also destroying the lifestyle of those who live here.”
“Having seen and heard all this, I don’t think there is any doubt that a judge would evict her in 20 seconds.”
Neighbour Natasha Lewis, 36, said that loud music could be heard from the flat any time between 8.30am and 4am, and that her neighbour continuously exposed herself.
She added: “It is obvious to see that she cannot look after herself within a community environment and needs to be living in a supervised setting."
Nicki Burton of Home Group told residents it would be willing to begin proceedings if they were prepared to testify in court.
She added: “In this particular case, Home Group has worked with support agencies, the police and the local authority to try to help the customer involved.
“We also took the necessary legal action to end the tenancy, however there was insufficient evidence available at the time to enable us to do so."
Miss Lewis, who lives in the block with her five-year-old son, said people were terrified by the woman.
She added: “Many of those who have signed the petition have resided in Chartwell Court for many years themselves, and deserve the right to live comfortably and in safety.
“In a facilitated building she can receive the help and support that she needs.”
