AN e-fit of one of a gang who posed as policemen to steal jewellery from a couple’s home has been released.
The seven called at a house in Longfields, Ongar, claiming they were involved in a local investigation and one of the owners, a woman in her 40s, let them in.
But about 15 minutes after they left, she discovered they had gone through the upstairs bedrooms and taken gold and silver necklaces, bracelets and Rolex and Tag Hueur watches.
Detective Constable Jody Greenfield said: “They seemed genuine and polite and said they were involved in a local investigation.
“Some of the men were seen to leave in a light-coloured small vehicle. We do not have details of one other vehicle used.
“We do know that they left the scene slowly so as not to draw attention to themselves.”
One of the men, who carried out the burglary on September 26 at about 6.45am, is described as being unusually tall, while another was bald.
Anyone with information on the incident or who recognises the man pictured should call Harlow Target Offender Team on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
