MORE than 1,000 responses to a questionnaire on where 10,000 homes should be built were delivered on the final day of a consultation today.

The Issues and Options consultation, which was launched at the end of July, put forward sites in the district where housing and extra employment could be placed over the next 20 years.

Sue Lloyd, a member of the Chigwell Residents’ Association, where plans for 1,250 homes were detailed in the consultation, said it delivered more than 1,000 questionnaires to Epping Forest District Council’s offices this morning.

“We’d already delivered about 150 to 200,” she said. “My target was 1,000 and any more than that is fantastic.

“Everybody is very concerned and this is a case where it’s unviable in Chigwell.”

She said groups from other towns and villages, including Waltham Abbey and Theydon Bois, were also handing in responses from their residents.

Answers to the questionnaire will form part of the council’s Local Plan and the final draft of this is due to be handed into the government in 2014.
