SERVICES at a children's hospice are to be extended and improved after the charity secured thousands of pounds in lottery funding.

Haven House Children's Hospice in High Road, Woodford Green made a successful bid for almost £282,000 from the Big Lottery Fund.

The hospice will use the money to continue its 'Better, Happier Lives Project'.

The charity will be able to provide twice the amount of its music therapy and extend its toy home loan service and continue its community-based play therapy.

Mike Palfreman, chief executive at the hospice said: "This generous grant from The Big Lottery Fund will enable us to dramatically improve the lives of life-limited children across our catchment area.

"Our ‘Better, Happier Lives’ project meets a real need of children and families in our local area."
