A MOSQUE has raised £6,000 for a children's hospice.
The congregation at South Woodford Mosque in Mulberry Way donated the money to Haven House after a visit from the charity's chief executive.
Mike Palfreman spoke earlier this month about the work done by the hospice, where about 40 per cent of the patients are muslims.
The visit followed a talk given about Islam by Dr Mohammed Fahim from the mosque to nurses and carers in September.
Mr Palfreman said: "Our hospice is situated in a multi-faith area and we seek to reflect that in the individual care we give to our children and families.
"We are very keen to be making these links with the local Muslim community and absolutely delighted by the fantastic generosity of Dr Fahim’s congregation."
Dr Fahim said: "We were delighted both to offer hospice staff advice on how best to support Muslim children and families, and to raise money for such a deserving cause that does such fantastic work across all faiths and communities."
