LOUGHTON Folk Club celebrates its second birthday on Thursday (October 18) with the launch of its own charity CD.


The night will be headlined by versatile duo Foxen.


All money raised from the CD, which features tracks from various artists who have played at the club, will go to the Crisis charity and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.


The gig costs £3 and is at the Loughton Club in Station Road, with doors opening at 8pm.


Green Day tribute act Dookie play The Artisan Music Venue in Chingford on Friday night (October 19).


It costs £6 and begins around 8pm.


There'll also be a DJ until 1am at the bar, which is in Hall Lane.


A foursome headed by trombone player Dennis Rollins headlines the East Side Jazz Club in Leytonstone next Tuesday (October 23).


Admission to the club, at the Lord Rookwood pub, is £6. The music is from 8.30pm.


Reuben's Train are the star guests of Walthamstow Folk Club on Sunday (October 21).


This duo play mostly American songs that is “brooding, dark and intensely moving” according to the gig's organisers.


It's £7, or £5 for concessions, and is at Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre Pub in Hoe Street.


Doors swing open at 7.30pm.
 

The “legendary” Alice Gerrard performs at the Birkbeck Tavern in Leytonstone next Wednesday (October 24).


She's played with a wide variety of artists during her 40-year career and has been described as a pioneer of bluegrass and old-time music.


Also on the bill are the acclaimed Beverley Smith and Stick in the Wheel.


The gig is organised by promoters What's Cookin', so is free but donations welcome.
