McDonald's is making history by becoming the first restaurant to operate in the metaverse by registering for 10 trademarks in the fully digital space.
The filing of the new trademarks was found by American Trademark attorney Josh Gerben who tweeted his findings for McDonald's application on February 4.
One of the four trademark applications was for "operating a virtual restaurant featuring actual and virtual goods" as well as"operating a virtual restaurant online featuring home delivery".
Plus, the biggest fast-food chain in the world has also looked into Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) by filing for the "virtual food and beverage products" and "downloadable multimedia files containing artwork, text, audio and video files and non-fungible tokens".

By having the NFTs McDonald's would be able to provide "downloadable multimedia files" for content such as artwork, audio, video files, and NFTs.
The brand has also put in an application on behalf of McCafe, so it to can operate in the Metaverse.
McDonald's may even start hosting online concerts with one application hoping to offer entertainment service "providing online actual and virtual concerts and other virtual events."
If the application was successful the chain would be able to host sponsored concerts and appearances from celebrities that are well coming the world of NFTs and the Metaverse.
The Metaverse was announced last year by Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg who revealed the decision to re-brand the social media company to Meta.
