Eton Manor lost out 22-8 in a top of the table clash against Bury St Edmunds.
Manor began the game positively with a strong line-out and some excellent work in the scrum but Bury’s defence was untroubled.
After 15 minutes Bury then opened the scoring against the run of play, putting down out wide.
Manor though continued to enjoy the upper-hand and after half an hour were rewarded with a penalty which was duly kicked by Ben Thomas to reduce the deficit to 7-5.
Manor were struck a blow early in the second period though when Dan Johnson was carried off with a knee injury and Bury took advantage scoring two tries out wide in the following ten minutes.
Both tries were unconverted and Manor maintained the belief they could turn the match around but were unable to breach a solid Bury defence.
With ten minutes to go Bury sealed the victory with another try under the posts but there was still time for Manor to grab a consolation when Sammy Green touched down with the last play of the match.
Manor will be hoping to get back to winning ways in their next match against Colchester.
