Wanstead's juniors braved the wind and rain to record some impressive results last weekend.
The Under-10s produced a convincing display to defeat Eton Manor 30-60, scoring a number of tries along the way.
Wanstead started the quickest with Brandon Smith showing a clean pair of heels to the Manor defence.
A quick home try levelled the scores before Smith again broke free to add both his and Wanstead’s second.
Sam Castle and two tries from Harry Turner added to the Wanstead scores only for the Manor to hit back.
But two more tries from Turner, whose running caused problems all match, put the visitors back in control.
Tenacious defending from John Ryan, Louis Freeman and Evelyn Weeden helped Wanstead control the game and Turner ran in three more scores with only one response from Manor. A Dylan McGovern try capped a fine display.
Wanstead Under-9s also made the short trip to Eton Manor, playing three games, but lost the opening encounter 7-0 against strong opposition.
Wanstead struggled with only five players available but there were encouraging performances from Joseph, Kayleigh and Joseph W.
In a closer second game Wanstead were edged out 6-3. The away side showed some nice touches and Joseph and Daniel both got on the scoresheet. Guiseppe was outstanding but in tough conditions the home side benefitted.
In their final game of the day the Under-9s were unfortunate against a strong Bancroft team.
Despite a considerable effort Wanstead were unable to stop Bancroft running out victorious 7-0 in an entertaining game. Wanstead’s Joseph, Kayleigh, Daniel, Joseph W and Guiseppe all put in strong performances.
The Under-8s played some fantastic rugby away to Eton Manor with two games played resulting in two victories.
In the first game, new boy Michael set up two brilliant tries with Jamie (two), Jasper, and Harry all on the score sheet.
In a close second match Jeffrey, Jamie, Jasper and Michael each scored a try in the 4-3 victory.
In an exceptional team display Ross, Harry, Simon, PJ, Joseph and Frankie all made important contributions to an impressive team display.
