LOASS FC scooped three awards including The Community Club of the Year prize at the London FA's seventh annual ceremony last Thursday.
The night, hosted at West Ham United’s Boleyn Ground, is held to recognise the great work done by clubs and individuals at grassroots football clubs.
The Community Club of the Year prize recognised LOASS' successful expansion and its important role in a successful disability programme.
As a result of the programme several players have been invited to train with the national England Cerebral Palsy squad and also team up with the GB Special Olympics team.
The award is only available to a small number of clubs and is a reward for the hard work of everyone associated with the club.
In the individual awards, LOASS' Steve Jones took home the Young Volunteer of the Year Award Jones in recognition of his coaching and his important role in the development of a new girl’s team, which has seen several players selected to play for one of London FA’s Girls Players Development Centres.
Bob Carn was named the Volunteer of the Year for his work behind the scenes at the club as well as his coaching.
Established in 1997 through the Leyton Orient Community Sports Programme, LOASS is based in Walthamstow and runs teams from Under-7s up to Under-18’s.
The club also includes two seniors’ teams, veterans and disability football.
In 2009 LOASS received the London FA Charter Standard Club of the year award and in the following year was made one of only eight clubs in London to have FA Charter Standard Community Club status.
