Waltham Forest Hockey Club has been recognised for its considerable progress over recent years with nominations for three awards.
At the upcoming Waltham Forest Sports awards the club has been nominated for Club of the Year, while there were additional nominations for Volunteer of the Year and the Inclusive Sports Award for coaches Matt Lovell and Pani Theodorou respectively.
Awards recognise individuals, teams and sports clubs that have made an outstanding contribution to sport and physical activity in Waltham Forest.
It has also recently become a gold member of the Jack Petchey Achievement Awards, celebrating the achievements of young people in society, and has been working closely with Arsenal FC as part of the 'Premier League 4 Sport' programme.
The club has been taking steps to further participation throughout the community with the successful conclusion of its third Adult Beginners course with more than 85 participants and the launch of its own junior section, which is now competing in the Essex Mini League and England Hockey Under-14 Development League.
Forest took their community involvement a step further running their first Foundation Umpires course in association with Arsenal.
The two clubs are now working to arrange matches between the two teams to allow these Foundation Umpires to start utilising these new skills in a competitive environment.
