Peter Williams of the Waltham Forest Swimming Club (LBWF) excelled at the British Gas short course national championships, taking home one gold medal, two silvers and a bronze.
The highlight of the Masters swimming calendar, held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield, saw Williams record two lifetime best times.
Held over three days Williams was the sole representative for the LBWF and managed to deliver his best form on the big stage.
His first medal came in his first event, taking bronze on Friday in the 50 metre breaststroke in a time of 30.39.
The Saturday morning saw a double header of the 200m breaststroke, in which Peter took silver in a time of 2:27.62, followed by the 50m freestyle where he had to settle for sixth place in 25.06, Peters only non-medal finish.
Carrying good form into the final day Williams was able to take the national title for his age group in the 100m individual medley in 1:00.27. He rounded the weekend off with silver in the 100m breaststroke in a time of 1:06.72.
The LBWF success continued as the Gators swimmers produced great results in the first meet of the season at Redbridge, with ten athletes achieving Essex County times.
Eager to improve on their personal bests of last season and secure their places at the Essex meet Drew Clark, Elliott Hill, Khaleeq Khan, Nathan Leong, Jeremy Nockels, Savannah Gracey, Pheobe Griffiths, Sonia Halili, Jodie Hull and Holly Taylor secured their county times early in the season.
Tony Hill, assistant head coach said: “If the Redbridge results are anything to go by, we’re going to have a really successful season and if the kids keep pushing hard at training sessions they’ll certainly reap the rewards.”
