Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade believes his team deserved more from the match after the O's lost 1-0 to MK Dons last night.

A solitary first half goal from Ryan Lowe was enough to condemn Orient to their four consecutive defeat.

But Slade insists his side's performance, particularly in the second half, meant they deserved something from the match.

"I felt on the back of the second half performance we deserved something out of the game," Slade said.

"The MK is a difficult place to come to, I think we were just finding our feet a bit in the first half. We were doing OK but we made a few mistakes and we weren't passing it as perhaps we should have been.

"In the second half I thought we moved the ball quicker, we got it into our front players quicker and we got between them a bit more in the second half particularly through Moons and Cooky and as I say we looked a danger."

David Mooney had three opportunities in quick succession in the second half but failed to evade the keeper on all three occasions. 

Orient have now scored just one goal in seven games.

Slade said: "David couldn’t have given any more. He's worked tirelessly and in the second half he got into some great positions.

"There’s been a couple of opportunities which their keeper has made good saves from but the important thing is he's getting into those areas and we created three or four decent chances."

Orient were second best for much of the opening 45 minutes but it wasn't until close to half time that the deadlock was broken - which Slade admits was a blow to his side.

He continued: "The goal came at a bad time. I thought, well OK we haven't perhaps been at our best but overall to be 0-0 with MK Dons with a couple of minutes to go to half time would have been an ideal situation particularly on the back of the second half performance."

Striker Kevin Lisbie came on in the second half, after returned from injury to make the bench, and the former Charlton man headed an equaliser in stoppage time but the goal was ruled out for handball.

Slade said he had no complaints with the decision and was pleased to give Lisbie some much-needed minutes on the pitch.

"The game plan was always to get Kevin some game time and we've done that and it looks like he's come through that which is really positive for us.

"Our bench is getting stronger and stronger as we get people back to full fitness."

The O's manager though was sent to the stands for expressing his frustration to referee Rob Lewis - a decision Slade didn't understand.

"I just asked him what it was for and all he said was that I'm visually frustrated. I mean he can't send me off for that, I'm not having that."

Slade also reserved praise for young Moses Odubajo who impressed throughout.

"He certainly gets better and better and I think he became a bit of a man tonight," he said.

"This is MK Dons, one of the biggest stadiums, one of the bigger teams away from home in the league, they've been in the playoffs three years running and Mo didn’t look out of it - I thought he was one of the best players on the pitch."

Leyton Orient will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.
