Sam Allardyce is keen to be re-united with Nicolas Anelka after opening talks to bring the 33 year old to West Ham, reports claim.
The former Bolton Wanderers striker is believed to be unhappy at Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua and Allardyce is keen to bring the Frenchman to Upton Park.
Anelka enjoyed a successful two-and-a-half years under Allardyce at Bolton, scoring 21 times in 53 Premier League games for the Trotters before joining Chelsea for £15m.
After making more than 100 league starts for Chelsea, Anelka left Stamford Bridge in January, having agreed a move to join the Chinese Super League side in a deal believed to be worth £250,000 a week.
However, there have been reports of a pay dispute between club and player, prompting talk of a return to the Premier League after the Chinese league season finished nine days ago.
